With Microsoft launching Office on Facebook, it's time for Google to buy Zoho
Iâm a daily customer of
access 2007 Docs. The main reason being that itâs very simple to not only create documents but also to share and work with others with others. Granted, the Docs themselves arenât since feature-rich as ones made up of local versions of Office suites including Microsoft Office, but they finish the same job.
Yesterday
microsoft access 2007 announced an alternative version of Office for any Web called Microsoft Docs. Instead of requiring users to experience a Microsoft Live account to get into it, this time the firm has partnered with Facebook, allowing any Facebook user to login on the service and then share Office docs with mates. The service, located with Docs. com, is still in invitation only manner, but the interface shows you being able to upload your own documents and create PowerPoint, Excel together with Word docs via this service.
The launch involving
microsoft access 2007 download. com and integration with Facebook can be an interesting move by Ms. As of yesterday Facebook counts a lot more than 400 million users, so you can imagine how quickly Microsoftâs Paperwork. com could pick up speed if the implementation was ready for prime time. Unfortunately, according to a post by Sam Diaz, itâs still really rough. Granted, itâs only been with us for four months, according to Samâs article, which is probably why itâs still party's invitation only. Even so, Zach is usually calling it unstoppable, especially since Microsoft already contains the Docs. com domain name.
With Microsoft now really putting some effort inside an online version of Office, should Google be worried? Right now itâs not clear how many users of Google Docs there are, but I can explain first hand that Iâve already seen the necessity for Google Docs to boost its Microsoft Office compatibility. For instance, in just the last week Iâve had people send out me PowerPoint and Phrase docs that didnât rendering properly in Google Docs. In addition, I have experienced too many occasions where something My partner and i composed in Google Paperwork rendered incorrectly when exported being a PDF.
So, should Google enhance its existing offering or only buy someone elseâs? In earlier times Google has purchased companies and then integrated them into it's online offering, and the timing couldnât be better for any to happen again.
One of my favorite feature-rich internet offerings is from Zoho. com. Iâve used many of the companyâs offerings in the past, including its Zoho Founder online service, which allows you to create an online database in seconds. But if you happen to dive a bit much deeper, youâll find that the company also offers up some sort of feature-rich online word model, Zoho Writer, that blows away Google Docs from a feature stand-point. I specifically call out the feature part, since Googleâs internet offering has sharing off pat.
I used to trust that Microsoft should get Zoho to really assembled a solid online offering, but now I believe that Google would be far better served by buying Zoho together with integrating its offerings into Google Docs. Zoho offers a service for just about everything youâd want to undertake online. Sure thereâs overlap with Googleâs own online offerings, but in many cases Zohoâs offering is most effective.
